291 Fantasia Para un Gentilhombre
Down 57. 1st of Rodrigo's 2 entries. Lowest position since 2006.
Rodrigo was the twentieth century's most skilful exponent of writing for the guitar. His Fantasia para un gentilhombre was inspired by the seventeenth-century Spanish priest and musician Gaspar Sanz. Sanz was also a fine guitar player and had put together a sort of guitarists' manual in 1674. This zesty, dance-filled concerto owes its success not just to Sanz, but to the inclusion of all sorts of Baroque forms.
